My niece, Regina Jones, has found a very special calling. Her courage and strength are continuing to amaze me. I am so proud of her. We received this message recently . . . If you can help, I promise you won’t regret it.
Greeting in Christ!
This has been an amazing year for me, particularly in regards to my journey of faith. What a great adventure this life is!
Many of you can look back and remember when I decided to relocate to California after graduate school. I knew I wanted to move to Southern California but I had no idea where I was headed. I quickly found a job working as a therapist with adolescents and their families and I thought that I had found my “calling”. This wasn’t a surprise to anyone, considering my personal history and education. I also found a home church, The Crossing, and began attending every Sunday. Church helped me deal with my overwhelming feeling of homesickness and I got involved with a group that serves in El Nino, Mexico. One Saturday a month, the group goes down to paint houses, play with the kids and be in community with our friends in Mexico. I know some of you were thinking, “Yeah right! Our Regina, painting houses?!” Believe it or not, I the first time I went was one of those moments that people talk about - one of those moments where in an instant a whole life changes. Not only do I now spend one Saturday a month in El Nino, Mexico, but I even joined the build team which goes down for the weekend to build houses. I can even do drywall now!
Through Mexico I made a friend who was going to Africa and for some reason he felt compelled to ask me to join him. His team was traveling to Zimbabwe to take food, medicine and The Good News to people in Gwayi River and the surrounding villages. This is where I said, “Yeah right! No Way.” Even so, I prayed about it and something inside me was curious. All of you know that I ended up going…kicking and screaming the entire way! When I landed in Zimbabwe I was overwhelmed with emotion. When I remember back on how I felt, I’m ashamed. I was angry and I wanted to be anywhere except where I was. I prayed and prayed and prayed. I knew that God was going to have to soften my heart in order to help me make it through the trip. Needless to say, I was not a joy to be around.
While in Victoria Falls, we met the boys in this picture. I would love to say that immediately after meeting them, my heart was softened and I was ready to serve God in whatever way I was called…but that would be a lie. I still felt sorry for myself, knowing I was expected to spend the next two weeks in the African bush. It was not until the next day, when I was wandering around and praying for clarity, begging God to show me why he had brought me around the world, that I was finally able to hear God’s voice. I will never be able to articulate what this was like for me in a way that would do Him justice; however, in that moment my entire life changed.
On November 19, 2005 I asked God for answers and He led me back to the parking lot where I saw these boys sleeping, curled up with one another trying to stay warm. At that moment I heard, “These are my children that I love so much. They are hungry.” So we ate. We spent the next hour in a restaurant eating Sadza and stew while we talked. I learned the heartbreaking stories of how these boys were orphaned. They ate until their stomachs were full and I promised them that I would return on Thursday (our Thanksgiving) and we would eat again. I don’t know if they believed me or not, but I know that they had hope.
On Thanksgiving,
our team hosted a party with these boys as the guests of honor. It was the best night of my entire life. There was a moment where I took a step back, out of the busyness of that day and all of the preparations for the party, and saw these children laughing, singing, and dancing with a group of seven misfits from California who were loving them the way Jesus taught us to. Right then, I knew that in someway Victoria Falls would always be home to me – that these people would always be my family.
I have been given the honor of returning to Africa this spring. I will be spending time in Zimbabwe and Zambia, working with ROCK of Africa to deliver medical supplies and open an orphanage. This will give me the opportunity to spend more time with these boys and many other children who wake up every morning in a country with so many challenges.
This is not at all where I pictured myself two years out of graduate school but I know that God’s plan is perfect. This is a huge faith step for me and I am asking for your support. I ask that your prayers are with me during this time. Please continue to pray for my safety, my travels and my health. Pray for the people I will meet in Africa as well as for these wonderful twelve boys who are responsible for my return. There are so many details to work through and you will receive bi-weekly updates while I am in Zimbabwe. Please also keep my family in your prayers, as they are also taking a leap of faith by sending their “baby” off to Africa.
There are many costs associated with this ministry. Simply, I need your financial support. My service in Southern Africa will begin April 5, 2006. I am trying to raise $5,000. This support will go towards both my living expenses and ministry tools: travel, food, communication, transportation (gas), health insurance, Bibles, supplies for the orphans, and much more. Please pray about contributing to this ministry and my efforts. If you would like to contribute financially, please make your checks payable to “ROCK of Africa” and send them to 20382 Venus Circle, Huntington Beach, CA 92646. Please put my name in the memo line for record keeping. You can also donate online at www.rockofafrica.org.
ROCK of Africa has another trip coming up in July and I would love to encourage you to check out the website and pray about traveling with us! I have several friends from Michigan who are coming and I would love for all of you to be able to experience this beautiful country! I know that many of you receiving this letter are responsible for partnering with me in my last trip as well as on my faith journey and I so appreciate all of your prayers and wisdom. Thank you for your support, either in the past or the future.
In His name,
Regina Jones

Welcoming 2006
I am glad to see 2005 go out the winder. It was a pretty good year until the death of my father a couple of weeks ago. I have been struggling with grieving and have not really felt like doing much of anything. I did however manage to qualify for Fast Start Distributor. As far as I know. . . there may be a glitch but I am trying to stay positive. Had a mostly unpleasant time at a party that I really didn't want to go to. My wife decided we were going. The kids had fun pretty much. I don't think my wife had a very good time and as you know, if mamma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy !!! Anyway, I just want to say "Happy New Year and Welcome to 2006" Lets hope and pray that it is better than the departing. . . until next time

Some wise words on success
A successful man is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at him.
- David Brinkley
Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it.
- Henry David Thoreau
Success is getting what you want. Happiness is liking what you get.

Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.
- Helen Keller
Success is getting what you want. Happiness is wanting what you get.
- Dale Carnegie
Success is how high you bounce when you hit bottom.
- General George S. Patton, Jr.
Every success is built on the ability to do better than good enough.

Top Ten Healthy Home Trends for 2010
BATTELLE EXPERTS PREDICT THE TOP TEN HEALTHY HOME TRENDS FOR 2010
Should we be walking around our homes wearing blue decontamination suits? Not quite yet, but the health of our homes will be a challenge at the forefront of home technology in the coming years. Nasty spores, mites and bacteria may fall victim to an explosion of new home products like self-sanitizing materials and air or water purifiers. People could be taking care of routine health monitoring from their homes instead of the doctor's office.
The carbon monoxide monitors and home security alarms we use today are considered the first generation in the wave of home health and security trends on the horizon. "The market is here for these types of products in the health conscious Baby Boomer generation. People are concerned about maintaining their health and want to make sure they take every step in their own homes to do so," said Steve Millett, Thought Leader and Futurist for Battelle. "Technologists are working on these home products now and you'll see them become a reality by 2010." A group of Battelle scientists and researchers have pinpointed the Top Ten Trends in Healthy Homes for 2010. They are, in order of importance:

What's Your Definition of Wealth?
The Definition of Wealth is in the Eyes of the Beholder. What's Your Definition of Wealth? In order to become wealthy you must first define what true wealth is. The word wealth can mean different things to different people:
The Merriam Webster Dictionary (New Edition): 1: Abundance of possessions or resources: Affluence, Riches 2: Abundant supply: 3: All property that has a money or exchange value: All objects or resources that have an economic value syn fortune, property, substance, worth. Robert Kiyosaki: "The number of days you can survive without physically working and still maintain your chosen standard of living." Jon Bender: In his book, In God We Trust, "Real wealth is living in gratitude; gratitude begins in trusting God in all things." Sir John Templeton: "Riches are about asset allocation, wealth is about gratitude." Bible: Matthew: 6:33, Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you. In Ruth 2:1, Boaz, a wealthy and influential man shared his harvest with Ruth. How could he have done this if he was poor? In the Bible there are lots of references to wealth but with the warning to not have a "LOVE" of money.
"If God owns the cattle on a thousand hills, and we are His children, these too are part of our inheritance" We believe wealth is much more than just making a lot of money. A brief perspective on wealth from the eyes of . . .

"Mind Hacks" interesting article
I have long been a fan of CNET and their affiliates. I ran across this article today and thought it was pretty interesting... got a lot on mind today and reading something like this, I can't help but put a little thought into how the human brain really works. I have lately been watching my biorythems also. Another interesting subject that intrigues me. Oh well, that's all for now . . .

Time keeps marching on
So today, like most recent days, the kids are off to school. Dad is getting ready for breakfast. I have a whole crap load of things to do today. What is really on my mind is the current weather trend. Cloudy, rainy, cold and blustery - typical fall weather for southern Michigan. I love this time of year because I always enjoyed going back to school. I have fond memories of football season. Going back to school and in the last few years, Salmon fishing. The nights are getting cold and off in the distance I can hear the low hum of the Salmon calling . . . there it goes again. Did ya hear it? Well hopefully I can get up north for some fishing. My brother and my nephew are ready and in need of a weekend retreat. Add my soon to be 15yr old son and we got a Salmon trip. My nephew is going through a really tough time. His girlfriend left him and took their 20 month old daughter to New York, NY where her mother lives. It is a really messsy situation that is affecting everybody around them. I have some very strong felling about the whole thing. I have scars from a similar situation with my sister and her kids. I saw the agonizing hell she went through for ten years and ended up dying befor her time and she passed away a very distressed person. I can't help but feel that because she lost her kids, her life was over long before she died. I guess that my deep down feeling are that even if two people can't work things out, they should have no right to ruin the other persons life by dangling the kids in front of their noses like the preverbial carrot.
I am trying to deal with it. I can't even imagine what my nephew is going thru.
Well thats all for now...

Passport press release
If only you could use Hind Sight as a way to forcast the future. Passport is out of business as of November 17th 2005 . . .
Passport LLC Takes Home Business To A New Level CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - February 17, 2005Speaking to a live conference call on February 8, 2005, Bo Short, CEO of Passport, LLC, announced a new a 9% associate profit-sharing incentive and the addition of two key leadership positions as part of Passport’s growth and expansion.
Ty Tribble was named President of Passport, LLC effective February 1, 2005. Mr. Tribble has extensive experience in a variety of business start-ups including several e-commerce ventures. Ty first joined the organization as an Independent Associate in March 2003.
Dave Stone was announced as Vice-President of Passport, LLC effective February 1, 2005. Mr. Stone has over twenty years experience in wholesale and retail distribution as well as several years in direct marketing. Stone joined Passport in May 2003 at the Independent Associate level as well.
Passport, LLC was founded in October of 2001 by Robert “Bo” Short after 12 successful years in the direct selling industry. According to Short, “Passport was created to offer people an opportunity that was simple, easy to explain, and fair.” Regarding the addition of Mr. Tribble and Mr. Stone, Short added, “ I am so proud of these two additions to our corporate leadership as I believe they represent the values of our company. They understand that our roles are to serve our Independent Associates, not the other way around.” Bo Short and the innovative Passport business model have put their stamp on the Network Marketing industry, as evidenced by the number of companies that are now attempting to adopt Passport’s “no-hype” philosophy.“My personal goal is to bring Network Marketing from a point of resistance to being embraced by the average person”, says Ty Tribble. “This industry has a less than sterling reputation and, to a large degree, this has been self-inflicted”, adds Dave Stone. Tribble adds, “As an industry, we need to get better at what we do. I believe it starts with reasonable prices and an effective use of today’s technology.”
“This is an exciting time for Passport”, concludes Short. “We have always stated that Passport is about the Independent Associates. Appointing corporate leadership from the associate ranks and empowering our Independent Associates with a 9% profit-sharing bonus program are two more steps to demonstrate that we mean what we say.”

Home-Based Business Opportunity Champions the Real Needs of the Average Person 1/8/2003 12:38:00 PM
MIAMI, Jan 8, 2003 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Most network marketing opportunities appeal to the wildest dreams of an individual: to get rich quick and to work at home. Unfortunately, the reality is quite different in most instances. Passport is a new breed of network marketing opportunity designed to champion the average person.
According to founder, Bo Short, "The network marketing industry is lucrative for a small fraction of participants, and the others are left out in the cold." Short goes on to say, "Network marketing companies tout themselves as home business opportunities, but the home merely serves as a base of operation for people who spend their lives at hotels and convention centers sharing even less time with their families and spending money they do not have in the first place."
After 12 successful years in network marketing, Short found that the industry is seldom fair to the average person. His experience inspired the creation of Passport, Short's answer to everything that is wrong with the network marketing industry. Passport is designed to benefit the masses, and thereby, change the Network Marketing industry forever.
How is Passport able to offer a true-blue home business opportunity? It has to do with several factors including low-priced products and a compensation plan that is easily understood. Most network marketing companies offer overpriced products that are very difficult to sell.
Passport boasts a line of 26 exclusive, specially-formulated products, including nutritional supplements, personal care and skin care items, competitively priced even when compared to items from discount stores such as Wal-Mart.
Passport is also very affordable. Startup is only $39, compared to the hundreds, even thousands required by other network marketing companies. Most importantly, Independent Associates can build their businesses from the privacy of their own homes.
According to Coy Barefoot, industry expert and Wall Street Journal best- selling author, "Passport is a great opportunity. It is my opinion that Passport will set a new standard of excellence in this industry. They have the products, the pricing, the compensation plan, and most importantly, the value-driven ethical leadership to do so."
