Today's business model requires different way of thinking

Entrepreneurship is Risky
By Brian Tracy

Entrepreneurs are those who take risks to produce goods and services for customers, gambling that the customers will be there to pay prices high enough to yield a profit. These profits are essential for the entrepreneur to repeat the process of developing and producing even more products and services.

Customers are Expedient
Customers are lazy, greedy, ambitious, selfish, vain, ignorant and impatient. They seek safety, security, comfort, leisure, love, respect, and fulfillment, the fastest and easiest way possible. Businesses and business people only succeed if they satisfy these customers faster, better, and cheaper than their competition. Fully 80% of new businesses go broke, close up or shut down in the first two to four years. From 1900 to 2000 more that 70% of the “Fortune 500,” the largest and most successful companies in America, closed down, went bankrupt or were acquired by other companies.

The Companies of Tomorrow
Some of the biggest and most profitable companies in America today, such as Microsoft, Dell, Oracle, and Apple, did not exist 25 years ago. Each year, new companies emerge and older companies disappear. The process of "creative destruction" in the marketplace never ends. Customer's wants and needs are changing continually, like the weather, from one day to the next, from one week, month or year to the next. They never remain the same for very long. Everywhere you look, in every business activity, promotion or advertisement, you see greedy, ambitious, clever people and companies striving to sell the very largest quantity of products and services at the highest possible prices to the greatest number of customers. And this is a good thing.

The Customer Benefits the Most
Because of competition and consumer choice, these lazy, greedy, and determined business people have no option but to continually improve their offerings to make them more attractive and desirable than those of their competitors. Meanwhile, those lazy, greedy, and impatient customers always have three choices. First, they can buy what is offered by a particular company; second, they can buy something else offered by another company; and third, they can restrain from buying anything at all. In a free market, all choices are voluntary. A person only enters into a voluntary exchange when he feels that he will be better off as a result of this exchange than if he had not entered into the exchange at all. This means that, in order to buy something, the person must value the benefits of the product or service more than he values the amount of money that it costs.

Competition Brings Out The Best
To succeed in a competitive market, many of the very best qualities of the individual are demanded. At a minimum, a successful entrepreneur requires courage, both to begin in the first place, and then to persist against the endless problems and disappointments. An entrepreneur requires honesty and integrity to win the support of customers, suppliers, employees and sources of capital and finance.

Action Exercise
To be a successful financial entrepreneur, above all, requires an instinct for identifying what products or services he can produce and offer that extremely demanding customers will buy and pay for.

Imus, Stop Apologizing

Imus, stop apologizing. This is getting ridiculous now, you made an insensitive joke, move on and quit sucking up to the likes of Al Sharpton. My wife’s 78 year old Grandmother called me last night to talk about Imus. She said why doesn’t he just quit the show? Why does he keep apologizing and trying to change his entire life over a bad joke. I told her I didn’t understand it but thought . . .

How To Improve Your Life, Your Health and Your Income. . .

EcoQuest is more than just products for healthy living, it's an opportunity to improve your life financially. The only requirement is your desire to succeed. And, there is a place for everyone at the table. At EcoQuest, we promise life-changing income opportunities for anyone willing to work. Setting the standard high for excellence and integrity. We are careful to make promises, and when we do, we deliver. "We are not a fad. People need our products because they solve problems; problems so significant and far reaching that they are affecting everyone in North America - right now." Michael Jackson President of EcoQuest.

Weary of the corporate world and already searching for a way to have a business of her own, Elaine Gibson paid close attention to a letter from Greg Montoya that told her about an unusual business opportunity.
“I read the letter, ordered the product, Living Air, and within twenty four hours of breathing the difference, I realized that I had found the answer. But I could not have imagined what was ahead.”
“The product, the people, and the integrity in every detail was remarkable,” she says. “I have grown to realize that this is the EcoQuest way. All the trappings of the conventional job fly out the window. I set my own schedule and earn more money than I ever imagined possible. The concept is brilliant; they pay me for what I do and I am free to do all I want!”
Initially, it was Elaine’s business. However, in October of 2000, she and her husband, Nevin, traveled together to Cancun, Mexico, for EcoQuest’s Annual Leadership Convention. While there, Nevin decided to fire his boss.
“He thought he was retiring,” Elaine laughs out loud. “But I have him working day and night!” There must be some free time in his schedule though. He has found time to train for and plans to run a marathon later this year.
One of the many things that makes this business so terrific is that we can do it from anywhere.
“I have done many conference calls with a child in my arms or sitting out on our deck or even cooking dinner,” she says. “We carry product and catalogs with us wherever we go so we can share it all with everyone we meet. Two years ago we went to a bed and breakfast for the weekend and left with the owner giving us a check for $700! Last summer while looking at antiques we sold the shop owner more than $1000 in products. Lunch in an Italian restaurant ended with the sale of one Classic and an appointment with the corporate office.”
Their children and grandchildren are an important part of their lives, too. Every time they win a new bonus car (and they’ve won two so far) the first trip is always to have car seats installed for the grandchildren and of course, the personalized license plates. Hers is “GAGA” and Nevin’s reads “PAPA NEV.”

Daily Wisdom From John Stiemke

Wisdom for Today Tuesday July 25, 2006
Gone are the days when I beat myself up. Lost is the self-hatred. How does one go from self-loathing to actually loving self and others? When did this actually occur? Somewhere in the recovery process, I stopped doing all those things, which completely violated my values. I stopped doing that which my conscience knew was wrong. This is not to say that I still don’t make mistakes. I am human. But I no longer need to destroy my life and hurt others for my own selfish gain. I no longer need to get out a big stick and beat myself over the head. I no longer have to ask myself why I was so stupid. I no longer need to walk in absolute shame.
I cannot fully explain what it is like to lose this need to hate myself and actually care again. This is the miracle called recovery. You see, recovery is not just about simple abstinence. The program teaches me so much more. I have been able to sort through the piles of “yuk” in my life and find that which is truly important. I have learned to operate within my values. I have learned to admit the mistakes I make and work to change my behavior so as not to repeat destructive patterns. I have developed a sense of right and wrong and a desire to do the next right thing. I no longer need to put myself down and abuse myself. I have learned to accept my humanity. Have I lost my self-hatred?
Meditations for the Heart
Values and virtues are things we do not often speak of, but they are of utmost importance to the recovering addict and alcoholic. Values are the things we hold dear. They define what is important and where we invest our time and energy. If I value my recovery I will invest time and energy into it. The same is true with family, a spiritual life, work, self-care and our relationships with others. Virtues on the other hand determine how we go about living our lives. The program teaches us many virtues such as honesty, courage, wisdom and many others. We discover that we do not need to live in a manner of self-deceit, dishonesty, fear and stupidity. We find that we can develop healthy values and virtues. Recovery and the steps and traditions teach us how to live. Am I developing a healthy set of values and virtues?
Petitions to my Higher Power
God,
Once again this morning I can look in the mirror. There was a time that I could not do this. I avoided looking at myself because I did not want to see what was there. I am grateful for this ability to see myself and accept myself again. Thank You for this new vision not only of who I am, but also who I can become. Help me this day to use my values as a guide for living. Teach me to use the virtues of the program in my daily life.
Amen.

Power Naps

Supercharge Your Energy With Power Naps By Kacper PostawskiOne of the most frequent questions I'm asked is: "Are naps good or bad for you?"Yes, naps are very good for you -- but only IF you understand how the sleep system works, and if you know how to nap PROPERLY.It's important to understand your circadian rhythm and light exposure -- and how they control your physical and mental energy.Few people realize that they're not just "dead to the world" when they're sleeping. Sleep is actually a very complex state responsible for healing and energizing our bodies. The Key to "Power Naps"When you sleep you go through five specific "sleep stages." During stages 1 and 2 you sleep "lightly" and are easily wakened. Such sleep does not alter your circadian rhythm radically enough to create a disturbance in your inner sleep system. The energizing effects of Stage 1 and 2 sleep are very beneficial. Just 10 minutes of sleep in these stages can restore your energy to the point that you feel as if you had slept for 8 hours. The best approach is to take "Power Naps" -- or what I refer to as "Stage 2 limited naps" that do not take you beyond stage 2 sleep. The One Type of Naps to AvoidSo why do most people do more HARM than GOOD to themselves by napping? The answer is simple -- they don't know about "deep sleep." Deep sleep comprises stages 3, 4 and 5 sleep stages. During deep sleep your body undergoes a MASSIVE physiological change, and your body temperature, heart rate, respiration all drop substantially.Duribng this time your blood vessels dilate, and the blood normally stored in your main organs during the day is then channeled to your muscles to repair them.If you enter such deep sleep during the day, your circadian rhythm and "inner sleep clock" is seriously thrown out of balance - often resulting in lower energy levels. But if you use naps properly, you can boost your energy levels drastically, and reduce your sleep time drastically. The Secrets of the Optimal "Power Nap"For the average person, from 45- to 90-minutes are required to enter "stage 3-5 deep sleep."This is why you should keep your nap down to a maximum of 45-minutes, and even that can be too long. The most energizing power naps are usually "cat naps" from 10- to 20-minutes long. There are two vital things that can allow you to "engineer" your sleep system using power naps -- and lower your need for sleep, while boosting your energy:You must know exactly what the best time during the day is to take your power nap. You must know exactly what to do AFTER your nap in order to speed up your bodily temperature rise. Both these sleep secrets are detailed in my Powerful Sleep package.Kacper Postawski is an innovative sleep science researcher and the creator of the "Powerful Sleep - Secrets of the Inner Sleep Clock" system. He shows you how to reduce your sleep by up to 3 hours, while creating an abundance of energy.
